About
I’m Jack Ball, a UK-based artist with almost a decade of experience dedicated to Art and Design, culminating in a Master’s Degree in the field. Over the years, I have explored various techniques and disciplines, which have shaped the approach I take in my current practice.
My work centres on the accurate illustration of the natural world, primarily using traditional mediums such as watercolour, graphite, charcoal, and coloured pencils. Precision is essential to what I do, striving to capture a high level of realism while highlighting the unique qualities of each medium.
My art offers an intimate portrayal of nature, ranging from expressive wildlife portraits to detailed botanical illustrations. A defining aspect of my style is the deliberate use of negative space, allowing my subjects to stand alone against minimal backgrounds. This emphasis on texture and form results in highly detailed images that are instantly recognisable, whether in monochrome or colour.
Each piece benefits from my deep appreciation and genuine interest in the subject, aiming to enrich the viewer’s connection to and appreciation of the natural world.
